The dissolvers MLQ and MLQY are vertical mixers generally recommended to disperse powder products in a liquid, usually water based.

The dissolvers MLQ and MLQY are widely used in the food industry for the production of syrups and vitamin based solutions. They are also used to make jelly in the food industry and gel in the chemical industry for the production of cosmetics, detergents and air fresheners.

The typical configuration of the dissolvers MLQ and MLQY includes a containing tank, an agitator, a pump unit and an assembly structure which houses the various components and their connection pipes. The entire machine can be provided with a forkable structure or installed on wheels to facilitate the moving to the cleaning and sanitizing areas. The structure houses also a completely removable containing tank.

The standard containing tanks usually have a cylindrical shape with conical or rounded bottom and they are available with different capacity. On the bottom it is welded a sleeve with a DIN or TRICLAMP fitting for the dosing pump connection. There can be also a quick emptying sleeve with its manual ball valve.

In cases where it is necessary to maintain the right viscosity of the liquid it can be provided a tank with heating space where proper resistances are inserted. In the gap usually recirculates diathermic oil or water which is heated by an external boiler with a properly dimensioned exchanger. The thermal insulation with the environment is made with rock wool panel protected by an outer welded sheet.

An alternative system is constituted by heating bands with electrical resistance easily externally applicable to the tank and equipped with their own regulating thermostat.

The agitator is installed on the dosing tank lid. The lid is bolted to the tank and can be fully removed together with the agitator in order to accomplish the ordinary cleaning and maintenance operations.

The agitator is constituted by a motorized shaft at the end of which is installed an impeller.

Impellers with different shape are available: flat blades, propeller and turbine.

The flat blades impellers are used for low rotation speed in order to not create strong turbulences that can alter the physical properties of the solid parts to disperse.

The propellers are effective working with medium high speed. They are used to keep the solid particles in suspension and obtain a good dispersion.

The turbine impellers work at high speed and are used when it is necessary to incorporate air as it happens for example in the preparation of emulsions or gelling solutions.

The agitator is operated by an asynchronous electrical motor properly dimensioned to be driven through a frequency converter. This way it is possible to choose the most effective rotation speed in order to obtain a good dispersion.

As an alternative, or in addition to the agitator, it is possible to install an auxiliary recirculation pump to keep the liquid moving in the tank and not let the solid particles to settle on the bottom.

The tank feeding can be automatic or manual with proper dosing systems.

On the lid there is an openable drop-down door with a protection grid, to be used for manual feeding.

The lid can be equipped with proper sphere washing nozzles to perform the cleaning in place.

If the feeding is automatically made, or by gravity or with a transfer pump, on the lid there is a sleeve with a valve electro-pneumatically operated for the introduction of the liquid , the inlets for the powder products and a vent with an anti-intrusion filter.

To control the liquid quantity incoming, the volumetric dissolvers MLQ can be equipped with proper level sensors. If the quantities are variable, it can be installed specific measuring devices such as liter counters, magnetic and massive measuring devices by which on-off or proportional valves and eventual transfer pumps are controlled. These devices are settled in function of the liquid characteristics so they need specific calibrations that has to be periodically verified.

For the powder products it can be used gravimetric screw dosers CHW, CHY or double screw BHW, BHY or vibrating channel VFW, VFY according to the product to dose.

In the gravimetric version MLQY, the containment tank can be hung to load cells. The load cells are off-center or flexion type, made in aluminium or in stainless steel with protection grade up to IP67, available also with Atex certification when requested.

The gravimetric dissolvers MLQY, equipped with their weight control devices, represent a valid alternative to the volumetric dissolvers MLQ and the on line metering devices. In addition, they have the benefit to be independent from the type of liquid concerned. For the powder products it can be used volumetric screw dosers series CH, double screw BH or vibrating dosers VF.

When the dissolution is completed the fluid obtained is delivered to the uses with a proper transfer pump . The type of pump is chosen according to the fluid characteristics ( density, viscosity, abrasiveness, maximum dimension of eventual solid residual parts), and its size according to the necessary capacity to fulfill the transfer time requested. The most used transfer pumps are diaphragm, progressing cavity, rotary lobes and piston type, as they can manage the fluids with solid parts and also with averagely high density and viscosity.

It can be installed on line interception and partialization devices, such as on-off and proportional valves, non-return valves or counter-pressure valves.

The most used construction materials are stainless steel Aisi 304 and 316L.

The surfaces in contact with the product can be easily pickled or mirror-polished as needed.

The outer surfaces are satined 180 mesh. It is possible to have them also glass bead blasted or electro-polished on request.

The connection pipes between the tank and the pump unit are flexible and available in different materials, such as PVC, NBR, EPDM and UPE according to the product to dose. FDA and Atex certifications are available on demand.

Electrical control panels can also be supplied including software specifically designed accordingly to the requested functionality.
