They are machines used to fill small containers, such as jars, bottles, pots and small bags with a predetermined quantity of product which is dosed by weight.

The weigh filling machines BDM are used for a wide range of granular or powder products.

The weigh filling machines BDM are semi-automatic machines that require the presence of the operator to place the container and to remove it once filled.

They are machines that accept different container sizes that can dose quantities from a minimum of a few grams until a maximum of 1 kg.

The weigh filling machines BDM are constituted by a doser which can be screw type, twin screw or vibratory channel according to the product characteristics. The dosers used are basically those of the relative series CH,CHW,BH,BHW, VF and VFW.

In correspondence of the doser outlet there is a discharging cone with a properly dimensioned outlet diameter according to the container inlet to fill. There can be provided also more cones, having different outlet diameter and easily interchangeable to allow the filling of different shaped and inlet diameter containers.

Under the discharge cone there is a manually adjustable in height shelf to place the container to fill. The shelf has a properly shaped guide that allows to easily place the container under the discharge cone of the doser. There can be provided also more guides, having different shapes and easily interchangeable, to allow the placement of different shaped and dimensioned containers.

The the weigh filling control logic provides that the dosing start is made by the operator after having correctly placed the container to fill. The doser stops automatically once achieved the weight set then the operator can replace the full container with another one to fill. The dosing start can be given pushing the start button on the control panel or with a foot switch that can be provided as an optional accessory.

The weigh filling machines BDM have a base with adjustable feet to be placed on a table or on a workbench. As option it can be also provided a supporting wheeled structure that allows to move the entire machine to the washing and sanitization area.

To dose quantities over 50 grams the BDM filling machine is constituted by a gravimetric doser installed on a load cell scale platform (BDMCHW, BDMBHW, BDMVFW). The load cells are off-center or flexion type made in aluminium or stainless steel with protection grade up to IP67, available also with Atex certification when requested.

The dosing control logic is by subtraction of the weight (batch loss-in-weight): at the start the system estimates the total weight on the scale and it follows the progressive decreasing. The dosing ends once the quantity set is subtracted.

Using this set up the product is directly dosed in the container without using other intermediary devices. This represents an advantage for the simplicity of the machine and for the consequent ease of maintenance. On the other hand it is not possible to dose quantities under 50 grams with a good accuracy because since the entire doser is weighed, the load cells have a full scale that does not allow a high resolution. The best accuracy obtainable with this setup is +/- 2 grams.

To dose quantities lower than 50 grams the BDM filling machine is constituted by a volumetric doser and a small weigh hopper on load cells (BDMCHT, BDMBHT, BDMVFT). The load cells are off-center or flexion type made in aluminium or stainless steel with protection grade up to IP67, available also with Atex certification when requested.

The dosing control logic is by sum of the weight (batch sum-of-weight): at the start the system resets the weight on the scale and it follows the progressive increasing. The dosing ends once achieved the set quantity.

The weigh hopper has a discharge electro-pneumatic clapè valve whose opening is activated by the operator once the dosing is ready . The weigh hopper is placed directly under the doser discharge and it is easily demountable from the support which houses it. The product falling from the weigh hopper passes through the discharging cone that guides it inside the container to fill.

With this setup it is possible to obtain accuracy even of +/-1 gram given the possibility to use load cells with a full scale of only few Kg due to the lightness of the weigh hopper.

To obtain a better accuracy it is preferable to use vibratory channel dosers VF, if the product characteristics allow it, since the flow is more regular and less pulsating of the one obtainable with screw CH or double screw BH dosers.

The best precision is ensured also by the possibility to set double speed dosing ( fast and slow ), using the slow one in the final phase of approach of the set weight.

There are cases where the use of the weigh hopper is not recommended, for example if the product is not very free flowing and tends to stick on the walls inside. In the long term the hopper could not discharge itself completely and a part of the product remains attached to the clapè compromising the correct functioning. In face of this possibility it is preferable to use a filling machine model that has a small load cell scale platform where to place the container(BDMCHB, BDMBHB, BDMVFB). The dosing logic is also in this case for sum of weight but the product falls directly inside the container. After having placed the container the operator makes the dosing start. It is likely that the action of the operator causes disturbs to the weighing system when the container is placed. For this reason the system allows the dosing start only after the weight has returned stable.

The hoppers of the semi automatic weight filling machines BDM adopt the same construction standards of the ones of the dosers CH,BH and VF, accessories included.

The most used construction materials are stainless steel Aisi 304 and 316L.

The surfaces in contact with the product can be easily pickled or mirror polished in case of poorly flowing products. It is possible to have certifications of the contact materials on request.

The outer surfaces are satin finished 180 mesh. It is possible to have them glass bead blasted or electro-polished on request.

The gaskets are made in dust-tight rubber , such as SBR or NBR. They are available also with FDA certification on request.

The control panel of the machine has a PLC and a touch-screen display. The management software has as well as loading cells calibrating function also the possibility to set the desired product quantity.

Electronic devices are wired into the panel for the management of the dosing fast-slow speed.
